Our Commitment to High Standards of Care
Person-Centred Care Homes
Here at Willow Grange, we’re proud to offer high-quality care to each and every one of our residents, regardless of their needs. We completely understand that when a loved one moves to a care home, it can be a very overwhelming experience, not just for the patient, but for the family as well.
The aim of this blog is to explain the principles at the heart of everything we do. It’s easy for us to say that our focus is on providing a person-centred care approach, but what does that actually mean?
What is Family-Centred Care?
Person-centred and family-centred care are terms used to describe an essential part of the service we provide. It means that we put families and individuals at the core of everything that happens at Willow Grange.
When a loved one comes to stay with us, they become an equal partner with regard to the planning, development, and monitoring of the services we provide. We strive to provide a care package that meets the needs of everyone involved, so the immediate families of our residents play an important role too.
There‘s a lot involved in providing family-centred care, and it goes a lot deeper than just making sure information is readily available and that residents get what they want. We pay close attention to individual desires, family lifestyles, values, situations, and social circumstances. In other words, we take a holistic approach to a resident’s care.
At all times, we are respectful of individuals and their families. We’re always willing to look at things from their point of view, no matter the situation.
Gone are the days when residents in care homes were expected to fit in with the health and social services provided. Nowadays, it’s far more important for us to be flexible in our approach. Our ultimate aim is to meet the needs of our residents in ways that are best for them.
In order to provide an effective person-centred care approach, we must work together with residents and their families when it comes to managing activities, decision-making and residents’ health.
What Makes Our Person-Centred Care Approach So Special?
When Willow Grange first opened, it was named Coombe Hill. Richard and Rosemary Payne opened their doors for residents way back in 1979 and have provided high-quality care for residents ever since.
Our founder’s approach has always been a very hands-on one. Rosemary held the position of matron and nurse for more than a quarter of a century, while Richard took care of the business side of the home. He also took the lead with regard to the many improvements that have been made over the years.
When a loved one comes to stay with us, they will be treated with the utmost respect and made to feel like a valuable member of your family. Rest assured, they will receive the best care possible from our trained, passionate, professional, and compassionate staff. If your family member needs specialised care, we can provide it.
At Willow Grange, we like our residents to think of life here as merely an extension of their life at home. We have no expectations they need to fulfil. Instead, we fully encourage them to take each day at their own pace. For example, participating in the social side of life at Willow Grange is optional. We consider it enough for residents to know activities and social gatherings are available, should they want to take part.
All residents are welcome to participate as much or as little as they want. Our goal is to make them feel at home and be able to live life on their own schedule. If they want to enjoy a more social atmosphere, we have communal areas. If they want to relax in their own room, they’re welcome to do that as well. Dignity and choice are at the heart of our philosophy.
Our person-centred care home features multiple teams of dedicated specialists who are passionate about everything they do. As a result, we will provide your loved one with care of the highest standard, offering pain management for physical and neurological symptoms. In addition, medication will be professionally administered, and nutritious meals prepared and served to all residents.
At Willow Grange, companionship is a given to all residents, as we understand the importance of loved ones never feeling alone. We are also always on hand to provide emotional support for families and their loved ones. We completely understand the value of support at this often difficult time.
Everyone at Willow Grange is dedicated to providing the best possible care for each resident. We offer a caring and welcoming place for them to live a happy and healthy life as a valued member of our Willow Grange family.
Whether you’re looking for temporary care for a loved one, need a well-deserved break from your caring role, or are in need of a more permanent arrangement, our person-centred care home can provide the care you need.
