Here at Willow Grange, we’re proud to offer high-quality care to each and every one of our residents, regardless of their needs. We completely understand that when a loved one moves to a care home, it can be a very overwhelming experience, not just for a loved one but the family as well.

The aim of this blog is to put your minds at rest by explaining the principles at the heart of everything we do. Our focus is on providing family and person-centered care, but what does that mean exactly?

What is Family-Centered and Person-Centered Care?

Person-centered and family-centered are terms we use to describe an essential part of the service we provide. It means that we put family and individuals at the core of everything that happens at Willow Grange.

When a loved one comes to stay at Willow Grange, they become an equal partner with regard to the planning, development, and monitoring of the services we provide. The immediate family has an important role to play as well because we want to provide a care package that meets everyone’s needs.

There‘s a lot involved in providing this sort of care, and it goes a lot deeper than just making sure information is available and that residents get what they want. We pay close attention to individual desires, family lifestyles, values, situations, and social circumstances. In other words, we take a holistic approach to a resident’s care.

At all times, we are respectful of individuals and their families and try to look at things from their point of view.

Gone are the days when residents in care homes were expected to fit in with the health and social services provided. Nowadays, it’s far more important for us to be flexible in our approach. The ultimate aim and focus is to meet the needs of our residents in ways that are best for them.

To be able to provide the best care possible, the key is to work together with residents and their families. We do this with regard to activities, decision-making, and the management of residents’ health.

What Makes Our Approach So Special?

When Willow Grange first opened, it was named Coombe Hill. Richard and Rosemary Payne opened their doors for residents way back in 1979 and have provided high-quality care for residents ever since.

Our founder’s approach has always been a very hands-on one. Rosemary held the position of matron and nurse for more than a quarter of a century, while Richard took care of the business side of the business. He also took the lead with regard to the many improvements that have been made over the years.

When a loved one comes to stay with us, they will be treated with the utmost respect and made to feel like a valuable member of your family. Rest assured, they will receive the best care possible from our trained, passionate, professional, and compassionate staff. If your loved one needs specialised care, we can provide it.

At Willow Grange, we like our residents to think of life here as merely an extension of their life at home. We have no expectations they need to fulfill. For example, participating in the social side of life at Willow Grange is optional. We consider it enough for residents to know activities and social gatherings are available, should they want to take part.

All residents are welcome to participate as much or as little as they want. Our goal is to make them feel at home and be able to live life at their own pace. If they want to enjoy a more social atmosphere, we have communal areas. If they want to relax in their own room, they’re welcome to do that as well. Dignity and choice are at the heart of our philosophy.

We have teams of dedicated specialists who are passionate about everything they do. As a result, your loved one will be given care of the highest standard and offered pain management for physical and neurological symptoms. In addition, medication will be professionally administered, nutritious meals prepared and served for all residents.

Companionship is a given as we understand the importance of loved ones never feeling alone. We are also always on hand to provide emotional support for families and their loved ones. We completely understand the value of support at this often difficult time.

Everyone at Willow Grange is dedicated to providing the best possible care for each resident. We offer a caring and welcoming place for them to live a happy and healthy life as a valued member of our Willow Grange family.

Whether you’re looking for temporary care for a loved one, need a well-deserved break from your caring role, or want a more permanent arrangement, Willow Grange can provide the care you need.
