Frequently Asked Questions

We work to build a real sense of community whilst also making all of our residents feel at home, with choice and dignity at the core of our philosophy.

How do I pick the right type of care?

We understand that each of our residents requires different approaches to care. If you’re looking for temporary care for your loved one, we can provide short-term respite care. At our specialist care home in London, we can also provide short-term accommodation for hospital leavers who require some extra support during their transition from hospital to home. We also offer palliative care, convalescent care and a specialist dementia care service, something we’re extremely proud of. To find out more about our elderly care services, please call our friendly team on 020 8399 8948.

What is the difference between a care home and a nursing home?

The most significant difference between a care home and a nursing home is the care needs that can be supported in each setting. For example, in a residential care home, care is provided 24 hours a day by trained care assistants. In a nursing home, care is provided 24 hours a day by registered nurses who are supported by care assistants.

Residential or Nursing – what’s the difference?

In a residential care home, care is provided 24 hours a day by trained care assistants. Commonly, residents are elderly and are experiencing degenerative health conditions associated with ageing. Within a nursing home, care is provided 24 hours a day by registered nurses who are supported by care assistants. All residents require some element of nursing care such as administration of intravenous medication or wound care.

How often can family members visit?

At our specialist care home, we know just how important visits from family members are to our residents, but we also know how difficult it can be to find the time to schedule a visit. How often you visit us is completely up to you. If you’d like to book a time to visit your loved one, please get in touch with a member of our team who will be happy to arrange that for you.

How long can people stay in a care home?

How long people stay in a care home varies from case to case. If you’re receiving specialist convalescent care services, your stay with us will likely be goal-oriented with the end goal being for you to regain your independence and return home when you feel ready. Other residents may be with us for a little longer, receiving around-the-clock care from our dedicated team for as long as they need us.

What type of funding do you accept?

Here at Willow Grange, we understand that paying for residential care can often become expensive, especially if your loved one requires 1-2-1 care plans. There are several different care home funding options available to alleviate any concerns you may have. In some cases, you may be eligible for financial help from the local council or NHS depending on your circumstances. For more information, please do get in touch.

What is included in the weekly fees?

Life at our London care home is designed to be a continuation of your life at home, and our weekly fees aim to reflect that. We’re proud to have a home with a range of communal areas for residents to relax and participate in daily activities. Our incredible chef Chris is dedicated to providing nutritious meals using local produce, providing home-cooked meals daily. We also make sure to provide sweet treats, suitable for all dietary requirements. Our activity coordinator arranges a variety of group activities each day to suit everyone’s tastes, from yoga classes to board games and cards.

Are there any upfront fees?

This will ultimately depend on a number of factors. In some situations, councils will pay towards some or most of your fees, but this is based on a care needs assessment. This assessment allows the council to work out what level of care your family member needs within the home. This information will then be used to assess whether you qualify for funding. For more information on how to pay for care at Willow Grange, please get in touch with a member of our team who will be happy to talk you through the process.
